    "Science cannot prove morality"

The video is below, but I'm not sure if it's the right video; it could be another night or another eighth of that same speech. This is a rough paraphrase of part of this Muslim scholar's speech that I saw part of on DVB satellite

There is no morality in biology. Is it in physics? No, we need religion for this. I would often debate atheists and when I would ask them why people should do good they would say "for the sake of good". This is not a logical position.

I heard a bit more about him talking about subjects concerning morality, rationality, religion, and universality that was way more interesting to pick apart but I blocked most of it out as I was pretty angry that this guy was claiming that morality is impossible with gods and relying on strawmans (e.g. "this atheist said X which is untrue.").

Well sure, the fantasy that religion is required for ethics is very common - that is why the religious listeners to that call in show I was in on recently were so hostile to UPB -- or any proof of secular ethics.

Secular ethics will do to religion what evolution could not - overthrow its last reason for being (other than the psychological of course).

What is very sad of course is that there is no morality in religion at all, only blind assertion and brutalized obedience.

These guys always annoy me, 'If we do not have the Koran we will all set eachother on fire'.  It's just like...why in the Hell would that happen, dude?  Why would I suddenly have a desire to light strangers aflame and steal their Snickers?  If I did, could anything really stop me?  In the short term I'm practically garunteed success!

I, however, feel that morality is nonsensical whether or not you add an impossible magical being to the picture.  The magical being claim just makes it all the more non sequitur.

Honestly, you guys don't bother me, but this sort of thing plays precisely into their hands.  Whatever the Hell problems you guys have with eachother, I'm just here to talk about Mises and historical revisionism.
